All this tech stuff all beyond me but even this question seems to have got 3/4 different answers, would they all be successful or are some of the "experts" wrong?

Control panel, display, change display settings, all will be revealed there

On one of your function keys you should have a picture of a monitor hold down alt and the function button and it should work

your laptop should actually have it's own screen - have you bought just a keyboard?

Right click anywhere on an empty part of the screen, display settings, try detecting monitor, you should then be able to either extend or duplicate the laptop screen.
